Too many kids attend the TCU camps for the size of the facility and the number of staff. My son attended two TCU camps, with the Thanksgiving showcase being smaller than the August one. There was a lot of sitting around and waiting for groups to move to the next station. Also, the staff did not ensure that everyone got an equal opportunity to play and showcase their skills.

After my son attended the August camp, he received a call from an OK State coach who was on staff at the TCU camp. He acted very interested in my son and requested that he come to OK State’s camp, which cost us over $500 including travel expenses. The OK State “interest” was a crock and just a lure to get an extra paying camper. The same thing happened to a friend whose son attended a Baylor camp, which also was staffed by an OK State coach.

If, after attending the TCU camp, you get an invite from OK State, don’t bite the bait.

The interaction is minimal between the coaches and the players. They showed some interest in a few players, but the vast majority were treated as if the coaches were just there because they had to be. I consider it a waste of money.

Never have been to a camp with my children, but continue to hear negative aspects among friends and parents similar to what I have read above….anyone with a good review?
